The project Collective Voice Detector was initially commissioned by the urban planning department of the Municipality of Maastricht & Jan van Eyck Academie. I delved into bureaucratic protocols and legislative language by witnessing internal meetings and staging interviews with civil servants, as a way to find cracks and space within their protocols for citizen participation and working methods.
With my performative approach I investigate individual narratives as they enter the public discourse, interrogate participatory democracy tools, and introduce open-ended scores to playfully undermine an otherwise rigid, hierarchical system.

Developed as a series of ‘serious games’ that have a dual function as tangible tools for both collective decision-making and emancipatory processes, this participatory work supports more democratic, empathic, and target-oriented team conversations while it reveals in an accessible and interactive manner how systems operate, and the potential role the involved agents can play.

After developing the prototype and the game-edition, I realized an interactive performance on bodily scale that explores the boundaries between art & consultancy, spectator & player, and performance & game. During Playground festival 2021, people who form a group in daily life have been invited as audience and as participants. By combining an aesthetic and sensory approach with verbal and non-verbal communication I offer the groups new ways to think, communicate and act – with each other instead of next to each other.
